Punjab Police arrest two men in Amritsar, seize an IED, and uncover cross-border links with a Pakistan-based handler in an intelligence-led operation.

Punjab Police :  DGP Gaurav Yadav said here on Wednesday that Amritsar Rural Police had busted a cross-border smuggling module with the arrest of two people and recovered one Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and two mobile phones from their possession as part of an intelligence-led operation in the ongoing effort to make Punjab a safe and secure state in accordance with directives from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Yuvraj Singh and Akashdeep Singh, also known as Akash, are brothers who live in the Amritsar village of Ranike and have been identified as the individuals who were detained. Police teams have seized their motorcycle, which they were using to conduct crimes, in addition to retrieving their cell phones and IED.

According to DGP, an initial inquiry revealed that the two had communication with a handler in Pakistan, underscoring the conspiracy’s significant cross-border ties. According to him, more research is being done to determine forward and backward links in this instance.
