Punjab Police Arrests Gangster Linked to Goldy Brar
Chandigarh — In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police has arrested Baljinder Singh, also known as Rainch. Singh is a close associate of Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who remains one of the most wanted crime figures in India.
During the operation, police recovered five pistols of .32 bore along with 10 live cartridges. Officials revealed that the weapons were being prepared for supply to Brar’s network with the intent to disturb peace and harmony in Punjab.
Weapons Procurement Under Goldy Brar’s Instructions
Preliminary investigation suggests that the seized weapons were arranged on the directions of Goldy Brar. According to Punjab Police, the logistics of this operation were managed by another key aide, Malkit Singh alias Kitta Bhani.
Investigators believe the plan was part of a wider attempt to strengthen Brar’s influence in Punjab by arming local operatives. Police sources said the arms were meant to be distributed among gang members for carrying out violent activities and creating fear among residents.
Moreover, officers confirmed that Rainch has a prior criminal history. He has previously been booked in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. His repeated involvement in drug and weapon trafficking underscores the deep-rooted nexus between organized crime and illegal trade in the region.
AGTF’s Crackdown on Organized Crime
The Anti-Gangster Task Force, a specialized unit of Punjab Police, has been intensifying operations against organized crime networks. Officials stressed that the arrest marks another step in dismantling the supply lines used by foreign-based gangsters to exert control in the state.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to rooting out organized crime. “We are determined to dismantle criminal networks operating under the influence of foreign-based gangsters. The arrest of Rainch is a crucial success in this mission,” he stated.
Additionally, the Punjab Police have stepped up surveillance on cross-border connections that fuel gang operations. Many of these gangs have ties with international crime syndicates, using both drug trafficking and illegal arms supply to sustain their activities.
A Wider Network Under Probe
Authorities said the latest arrest is not an isolated event but part of a larger, ongoing probe into Brar’s network. Investigators are tracking money trails, communication links, and supply chains used to procure arms illegally.
Sources revealed that further arrests are likely in the coming weeks as police tighten their grip on associates of Goldy Brar. “We are unearthing the entire nexus, and more names are expected to surface,” a senior officer told reporters.
The crackdown comes amid heightened concerns over rising gang violence in Punjab. Recent incidents have highlighted how organized crime groups have tried to spread fear through targeted killings, extortion, and drug networks.
