Punjab Police arrested 71 drug smugglers in 204 raids under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, seizing heroin, opium, pills and cash in statewide action.

In keeping with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign to eradicate the state’s drug problem for the 281st day in a row, Punjab Police raided 204 locations on Sunday, registering 52 first information reports (FIRs) throughout the state that resulted in the arrest of 71 drug smugglers. As a result, 39,580 narcotics smugglers had been apprehended in 281 days.

834 grams of heroin, 1.5 kg of opium, 281 intoxicant pills, and Rs 20,920 in drug money were found in the custody of drug smugglers who were arrested as a result of the operations.

Under the direction of 47 gazetted officers, more than 700 police officers from more than 100 police teams have carried out 204 raids around the state. During the course of the day-long operation, police teams have also checked up to 224 suspected individuals.

In order to eradicate narcotics from the state, the state government has implemented a three-pronged policy called Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP). As part of “De-addiction,” the Punjab Police has persuaded 38 people to receive de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
