Punjab Police arrested 66 drug smugglers after 257 raids on Day 278 of CM Mann’s anti-drug campaign, seizing heroin, poppy husk and strengthening the EDP strategy.

In keeping with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign to end drug use in the state for the 278th day in a row, Punjab Police raided 257 locations on Thursday and arrested 66 drug smugglers after registering 52 first information reports (FIRs) throughout the state. This brings the total number of drug smugglers arrested in 278 days to 39,175 people.

2.5 kilogram of heroin, 40 kg of poppy husk, 387 intoxicating tablets, and Rs 700 in drug money were found in the custody of apprehended drug smugglers as a result of the operations.

Under the direction of 57 gazetted officers, more than 700 police officers from more than 100 police teams have carried out 257 raids around the state. Throughout the course of the daylong operation, police teams have also examined up to 252 suspicious individuals.

In order to eradicate narcotics from the state, the state government has implemented a three-pronged policy called Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP). As part of “De-addiction,” the Punjab Police has persuaded fifty people to receive rehabilitation and de-addiction treatment today.
