Punjab Police arrest 103 drug smugglers in 335 raids; 39,078 arrested in 277-day ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ anti-drug campaign.

In keeping with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign to end drug use in the state for the 277th day in a row, Punjab Police conducted raids at 335 locations on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 103 drug smugglers following the filing of 79 first information reports (FIRs) throughout the state. As a result, 39,078 narcotics smugglers have been apprehended in 277 days.

During the raids, 1.5 kilogram of heroin, 1 kg of opium, 5 kg of poppy husk, 5040 intoxicant pills, and Rs 12,370 in drug money were found in the possession of drug smugglers who had been detained.

335 raids have been carried out around the state by more than 120 police teams, which consist of more than 1000 police officers, overseen by 70 gazetted officers. During the course of the day-long operation, police teams have also checked up to 356 questionable individuals.

In an effort to eradicate narcotics from the state, the state government has implemented a three-pronged policy called Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP). As part of “De-addiction,” the Punjab Police has persuaded forty-five people to receive de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
