Punjab Industrial Growth Accelerates: Infosys ₹286 Crore Mohali Campus to Create 2,700 Jobs

CM Bhagwant Mann emphasizes investment-friendly policies as Infosys project generates thousands of jobs

MOHALI : Punjab is witnessing a historic industrial revival, with global investors returning after years of stagnation. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced this resurgence during the groundbreaking ceremony of Infosys’ ₹286 crore Mohali campus, emphasizing that the project will provide direct employment to 2,700 youth and generate thousands of indirect jobs across the state.

The Chief Minister highlighted that since March 2022, the Punjab government has attracted investment proposals worth ₹1,55,000 crore, creating employment opportunities for over 5,44,000 young people. He said the upcoming Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, scheduled from March 13 to 15 in Mohali, will serve as a milestone for the Punjab Industrial Growth and attract further global investments.

Infosys Campus and Job Creation in Punjab

The new Infosys campus in Mohali will feature a software development block, a food court, and other modern facilities across a built-up area of 3,50,000 sq. ft, accommodating 3,000 employees. CM Mann emphasized that Punjab’s industry-friendly policies, corruption-free governance, and investor support will encourage further industrial projects, creating significant employment opportunities for Punjab youth and positioning Mohali as a key industrial and IT hub.

“Today is a historic day for Punjab. The Infosys Mohali project will create thousands of jobs and strengthen Punjab’s standing on the global industrial map,” stated CM Mann. He also lauded Infosys founder N. R. Narayana Murthy for his immense contribution to India’s IT sector.

Boosting Punjab Industrial Growth Ecosystem

CM Mann noted that global companies like Nestlé, Claas, Freudenberg Group, Cargill, Verbio, and Danone have already invested in Punjab, with further investments flowing from countries including Japan, USA, Germany, UK, UAE, Switzerland, France, and Spain. He reaffirmed that the state’s robust industrial ecosystem, including transparent Single Window systems, competitive power tariffs, and abundant land, is attracting international and domestic companies.

The Chief Minister also announced the upcoming inauguration of Tata Steel’s ₹3,200 crore project in Ludhiana on March 20, which will create 2,500 additional jobs and accelerate industrial growth.

Employment and Youth Development

CM Mann emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering youth through Punjab Industrial Growth. “Providing employment opportunities for Punjab youth will help them pursue productive careers and stay away from social menaces such as drug abuse,” he said, highlighting that industrial projects are integral to youth empowerment and social development.

He also stressed that industrial progress requires collaboration between government and investors. “The industrial sector can thrive only when the government and industry work together. Investors are the architects of Punjab’s economic future,” he said.

Punjab: Land of Opportunities

Positioning Punjab as a hub for industrial and technological investment, CM Mann described Mohali as a strategic location with an international airport and a skilled talent pool within 80 kilometers, making it ideal for global companies. He further emphasized that the Punjab Industrial and Business Development Policy-2026 will offer incentives for investors, support entrepreneurs, and create new jobs for youth, especially women.

With the Infosys Mohali campus, upcoming Tata Steel project, and the Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, the state is poised for unprecedented Punjab Industrial Growth  employment generation, and economic revival.
