Punjab Government Inaugurates Multiple Education Projects Under ‘Sikhya Kranti’ in Pathankot Schools
Pathankot, April 7, 2025 – The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and guided by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, has made significant strides in transforming the state’s education system. Under the flagship ‘Sikhya Kranti’ program, a series of education development projects worth several lakhs were inaugurated in Pathankot’s government schools on April 7, aiming to provide world-class education to students across the district.
A Commitment to Educational Excellence
The inauguration ceremony, held across various schools in the district, was attended by key political figures including Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, Chairman of Improvement Trust Vibhuti Sharma, and AAP District President Amit Mintu. These leaders emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to improving both educational infrastructure and the quality of education in the state.
Lal Chand Kataruchak highlighted the Punjab government’s dedication to enhancing education and healthcare systems. “The ‘Sikhya Kranti’ initiative is transforming the public school system by focusing on better infrastructure, improved education quality, and greater student enrollment,” he said during the event.
Key Projects Unveiled Across Pathankot
The development projects inaugurated under this initiative included significant upgrades such as the construction of libraries, science labs, toilets, and boundary walls — all crucial elements for providing a more conducive learning environment.
- In the Bhoa Assembly constituency, the Food Minister inaugurated projects worth Rs 4.16 lakh at Government Primary School Salowal, Rs 3.20 lakh at Government Primary School Tangosah, and Rs 13.65 lakh at Government Senior Secondary School Tangosah.
- In the Sujanpur constituency, AAP District President Amit Mintu launched projects worth Rs 9.99 lakh at Government Primary School Karoli, Rs 30 lakh at Government Senior Secondary School Manwal, Rs 18.09 lakh at Government Senior Secondary School Karoli, and Rs 12.5 lakh at Government Primary School Jhikli Karoli.
- In Pathankot Assembly constituency, Vibhuti Sharma, the Chairman of the Improvement Trust, inaugurated projects worth Rs 2 lakh at Government Primary School Dhangu Road, Rs 10.85 lakh at Government Primary School Model Town (Girls), and Rs 22.2 lakh at Government Senior Secondary School K.F.C. Pathankot.
These investments reflect the Punjab government’s commitment to establishing an educational ecosystem that meets global standards and prepares students for success in the modern world.
Infrastructure Improvements for Better Learning
As part of the ‘Sikhya Kranti’ initiative, the Punjab government has focused on upgrading the physical infrastructure of schools. These improvements are designed to enhance the learning environment for students. Across the state, schools have seen the construction of new classrooms, the establishment of science and computer labs, and the installation of better sanitation facilities.
“This transformation has been driven by the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who understands the critical role education plays in shaping the future of our children,” Kataruchak remarked.
