Chandigarh, Punjab: Finance Minister Harpal Cheema slammed opposition attempts to tarnish the state’s image, calling it “cheap politics.” Speaking about the progress under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Cheema highlighted that in just four years, Punjab has attracted ₹1.55 lakh crore in investments, achieved record GST revenue, and drawn international companies such as Tata Steel, reflecting the state’s strengthened law and order and successful fight against narcotics.

“These milestones are clear proof of Punjab development achievements. Employment generation, free electricity, health protection, improved education, and promotion of sports culture all showcase the government’s commitment to the people of Punjab,” Cheema said.

Punjab Development Achievements Threatened by Cross-Border Smuggling Concerns

The finance minister also raised concerns about cross-border smuggling. “While our government is focused on Punjab development achievements and combating drugs, the BJP has ignored smuggling along the international border. Are they deliberately allowing drugs to enter Punjab?” he questioned.

Cheema further emphasized that the state’s growth is not just in revenue or investment but in quality-of-life improvements. “Free treatment for patients, upgraded healthcare facilities, and a stronger focus on education and sports are integral components of Punjab development achievements. These initiatives are changing lives across the state,” he added.

The minister concluded by underlining the government’s commitment to a safe, prosperous, and progressive Punjab. “Record investments, industrial growth, law and order improvements, and social welfare initiatives are tangible indicators of our Punjab development achievements over the past four years,” Cheema said.
