Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that from Tuesday, cabinet ministers will start distributing flood relief cheques in 19 remaining districts, covering 825 villages.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann distributed flood relief cheques totaling ₹5.70 crore to 631 beneficiaries.
During a function at Ajnala, the Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to commence the compensation distribution within 45 days following the completion of a special survey (girdawari), as he had previously stated on September 11.
Mann expressed his gratitude to the officers and staff of the revenue department and the district administration for their diligent efforts, despite the fact that the 45-day deadline for compensation distribution expires on October 28.
Mann stated that cabinet ministers will commence the distribution of compensation in the remaining 19 districts, which encompass a total of 825 villages, on Tuesday. “A special survey was conducted in 2,508 villages to evaluate crop damage. Reports indicate that approximately 3.5 lakh acres of crops were significantly impacted.” The Chief Minister stated that objections have been raised to prevent any farmer from being treated unjustly. He also mentioned that the necessary funds have been approved for 20 affected districts and that objections in 825 villages have already been resolved.
The CM stated that 30,806 houses, sheds, and cabins were damaged in 1,846 villages, as reported by a survey conducted in 2,291 villages to assess house damage.

According to him, compensation will be distributed in the amount of ₹180 crore beginning on October 23. The amount for houses that have completely collapsed will be ₹1.20 lakh, while the amount for houses that have been partially damaged has been increased from ₹6,500 to ₹40,000.
Mann stated that 198 villages were impacted by the floods in the Amritsar district, in reference to the losses that were sustained.
“The special survey reports indicate that crops spanning over 59,793 acres were affected.” A total of 958 residences were completely destroyed, while 3,711 were marginally damaged. He stated that a total of 307 cattle were destroyed.”Mission Chardi Kala”
Mann stated that Punjabis have consistently demonstrated resilience. “The inhabitants of the Majha region have encountered significant challenges.” Initially, during the India-Pakistan tensions, and subsequently, the devastation wrought by floods, he stated.
The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction with the significant contributions that individuals are making to the “Mission Chardi Kala” initiative, which is being conducted through the rangla.punjab.gov.in portal to assist flood victims.

Mann stated that the flooding have resulted in a loss of nearly ₹14,000 crore for the state.
“The Union government has been informed of the situation by the state government.” “Unfortunately, the Centre is employing delaying tactics rather than providing assistance to the state in resolving the crisis,” he stated.
