AAP sarpanch Jarmal Singh Valtoha shot dead in Amritsar. CM Bhagwant Mann orders strict action and arrest of all accused in the murder case.
Amritsar, Punjab: In a shocking incident, AAP sarpanch Jarmal Singh Valtoha was shot dead in broad daylight while attending a wedding at Meri Gold Palace in Amritsar. The attack has triggered immediate action from the Punjab government, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann personally overseeing the investigation.
CM Directs Immediate Action
CM Mann spoke with DGP Gaurav Yadav over the phone to get updates on the case and instructed that all accused in the murder must be identified and arrested swiftly. “Criminals in the state will not be spared under any circumstances,” he asserted.
Background of the Attack
The sarpanch, closely associated with AAP MLA Sarwan Singh Dhunan, had previously faced threats and two prior attacks. Reports suggest that gangster Prabhdeep Singh alias Prabh Dasuwal, currently abroad, had been demanding Rs 30 lakh extortion from Valtoha for six months.
On Sunday, while attending the wedding ceremony at Meri Gold Palace in Amritsar, Jarmal Singh Valtoha was shot in the head by the assailants and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Political Fallout
The killing has sparked criticism from opposition parties, who have attacked the state government for failing to prevent such violent incidents. Meanwhile, the AAP-led administration has promised a speedy investigation and strict action against the culprits.
Punjab police have reportedly launched a manhunt to apprehend the attackers and are reviewing CCTV footage from the wedding venue and surrounding areas.
