Background of the Attack

On Sunday, while attending the wedding ceremony at Meri Gold Palace in Amritsar, Jarmal Singh Valtoha was shot in the head by the assailants and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The killing has sparked criticism from opposition parties, who have attacked the state government for failing to prevent such violent incidents. Meanwhile, the AAP-led administration has promised a speedy investigation and strict action against the culprits.

Punjab police have reportedly launched a manhunt to apprehend the attackers and are reviewing CCTV footage from the wedding venue and surrounding areas.
