CM Mohan Yadav inaugurated the 31st IES–Digiana Inter Press Cricket Tournament in Bhopal, praising journalists’ contribution to democracy and sports.
Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav praised journalists for their crucial role in strengthening democracy while inaugurating the 31st IES–Digiana Inter Press Cricket Tournament organized by the Bhopal Sports Journalists Association at Old Campion Ground on Sunday.
Journalism and Sports: Pillars of Madhya Pradesh
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Yadav described journalists as the “bouncers of the pen” and commended their words as “googlies” that add a special sheen to democracy. “Madhya Pradesh has always been a land of strong sportspersons and robust journalists. Our journalists have guided journalism in the national interest and brought distinction at the national level,” he said.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to eminent personalities such as Makhanlal Chaturvedi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose contributions to literature and journalism, he said, are exemplary and worthy of reverence.

A Tradition of Camaraderie Through Cricket
Dr. Yadav lauded the Bhopal Sports Journalists Association for organizing the Inter Press Cricket Tournament continuously for three decades. “Along with competitive cricket, the event also fosters warmth and camaraderie. I am marking my ‘hat-trick’ by attending this tournament once again,” he remarked, extending his best wishes for the successful conduct of the event.

The event was attended by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishvas Sarang, former MLA Dhruv Narayan Singh, senior journalists Mrigendra Singh, Vijay Das, and Tejendra Singh, District President Ravindra Yati, social worker Rahul Kothari, along with numerous participants, officials, journalists, and sports enthusiasts.
