Chandigarh : A sudden cardiac emergency in Mohali highlighted the effectiveness of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana Punjab, ensuring that residents can access life-saving treatment without financial delay. Under the scheme, introduced by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Sukhwinder Kaur of Manikpur village received immediate treatment, saving her family an estimated Rs 4 lakh in emergency hospital expenses.
Sukhwinder Kaur, suffering from acute chest pain and diabetes-related complications, was rushed to a private hospital. Doctors diagnosed a serious heart condition requiring immediate stent placement. The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana Punjab covered the procedure under its annual coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per eligible family at empanelled hospitals, allowing her to receive timely care without worrying about finances. She was discharged in stable condition after a week of supervision.
