Chandigarh : In a grand celebration of women’s achievements, the Mann Government organized the Mahila Udyami Samman 2026, honoring women entrepreneurs from across Punjab. The event, held in Mohali, saw Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in attendance, highlighting the state government’s strong commitment to promoting women entrepreneurship in Punjab.
Government Initiatives Supporting Women Entrepreneurship
During the Mahila Udyami Samman 2026, various initiatives of the Mann Government aimed at empowering women in Punjab were highlighted. Minister Tarunpreet Sond emphasized that women entrepreneurs are being linked to business opportunities in sectors such as dairy products, handicrafts, and small-scale industries.
“To link the women of Punjab with the dairy products business and make them self-reliant, the Mann Government has introduced a special scheme. Under this, 7,000 mothers and sisters can purchase buffaloes and cows at 0% interest, with flexible repayment options tailored to household expenses,” said Minister Sond.

The Mahila Udyami Samman 2026 also marked the launch of 23 Sakhi Shakti Melas and three Self-Help Group outlets, with plans to establish outlets in all 23 districts of Punjab, giving women direct access to markets for their crafts and products.

Speaking at the event, Manish Sisodia praised the Mann Government for its comprehensive approach to women empowerment. “The government is providing financial support, skill development programs, and self-help group facilitation so that women across Punjab can establish and expand their businesses successfully,” he said.
