CM Mann’s Lok Milnis Bring Grassroots Revolution to Punjab
In a spirited bid to strengthen rural Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken governance directly to the people through “Lok Milnis” — village-level interactions designed to accelerate development and directly address the grievances of the common people.

During a packed visit to the Dhuri block, CM Mann met with residents of Bhullarheri, Bhalwan, Dhura, Bhaddalwad, and Palasaur villages, where he not only listened to their concerns but also unveiled a series of development initiatives. The village gatherings were filled with anticipation and optimism as the Chief Minister personally dedicated several completed infrastructure projects to the people.
“These Lok Milnis are more than meetings — they’re our commitment to ensure that no voice goes unheard and no village gets left behind,” said CM Mann during the interactions. He emphasized that the future of Punjab lies in the strength of its villages, noting that over 60% of the state’s population resides in rural areas. “To uplift Punjab, we must first empower its villages,” he added.
A Fresh Approach to Grassroots Governance
Unlike traditional top-down governance models, Mann’s Lok Milnis provide a platform where villagers can directly interact with the Chief Minister and other officials. This not only brings transparency but also gives people a sense of ownership in their local development.
CM Mann also appealed to citizens to actively monitor ongoing projects. “Development isn’t just the government’s responsibility. It’s a joint effort. When people keep an eye on the work being done, it ensures quality and accountability,” he said.
₹31 Crore Committed to Dhuri Block
In a major financial boost to the region, Mann announced that the Dhuri block has received a total of ₹15.61 crore for 196 development works. Of these, 115 projects worth ₹9.90 crore have already been completed, while 81 projects costing ₹5.71 crore are underway.
But that’s not all. Based on feedback from the local Gram Panchayats during the Lok Milnis, another ₹15.65 crore has been sanctioned for 24 new projects, pushing the total developmental push in these five villages to over ₹31 crore.
Equal Facilities for All
The Chief Minister also reiterated his government’s commitment to bringing urban-level amenities to rural areas. “We are determined to ensure that even the remotest village gets access to quality roads, sanitation, water supply, and healthcare facilities — just like our cities,” he asserted.
CM Mann didn’t shy away from highlighting the lack of such direct engagement in previous governments. “Earlier leaders were scared to meet the people who voted them into power. We are different. We walk with the people, we listen, and we act,” he said, drawing applause from villagers.
A Call for Cooperation
The visit ended with a call for collective action. “Government policies and funding alone aren’t enough. What truly drives change is community participation,” Mann said, urging villagers, panchayat members, and officials to work hand-in-hand for a better future.
As the Lok Milni initiative gains momentum, Punjab is witnessing a shift — one where governance is no longer confined to offices in Chandigarh but is walking the dusty roads of its villages, hand in hand with the people it serves.
