Punjab-Haryana High Court denies Bikram Majithia’s bail, citing threat to witnesses. AAP says the ruling is a major setback for Akali Dal in the vigilance case.

The Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court’s ruling today has given Akali Dal (Badal) the “biggest shock,” according to AAP Punjab General Secretary and Media In-Charge Baltej Pannu, whose continuous threats to police “did not work.” Speaking at a press conference in Chandigarh, Pannu reiterated the gravity of the vigilance case filed against senior Akali politician and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia by stating that the court had denied his request for bail.

According to Pannu, Majithia’s bail had previously been denied by the lower court, and the High Court has now denied relief as well after considering the Punjab government’s thorough reasons. “Our AG Office team argued before the Hon’ble Court for almost fifteen days, and after hearing all of the arguments, the Court recognized that Majithia can threaten and intimidate witnesses if he is released, as his prior behavior demonstrates,” he stated.

He criticized the Akali Dal for holding news conferences on a regular basis and asserting that Majithia should be freed because there was “no further investigation after the challan.” However, Pannu stated that the High Court rejected the application because it recognized the gravity of the situation.

Pannu recounted how Majithia’s financial and political influence grew to such an extent under the Akali-BJP administration in 2007–17 that “he started calling himself the General of Majha.” He claimed that owing to the invasion of Chitta in Punjab at that time, “Punjab witnessed how many political careers were destroyed, how many lives were ruined.”Majithia’s associates “used red-beacon vehicles, were given police gypsies, and had a role in this entire business,” he continued.

Speaking on DA (Disproportionate Assets), Pannu stated that the true inquiry was where the enormous amount of unexplained money came from. It’s obvious now that someone is contributing Rs 5 crore and another Rs 10 crore. With no paperwork, no payments, and no return, what sort of loan is this? The sole purpose of these businesses was to turn black money into white. “They (Akali Dal Badal) thought they could do whatever they wanted and no one would hold them accountable because they thought they would rule for 25 years,” he claimed.

“Captain is defending the Badals more than their own party today,” he claimed, adding that even Captain Amarinder Singh has now openly demonstrated the “chacha-bhatija government” claims. The Punjabi people handed the AAP a huge majority, according to Pannu, so that “big crocodiles of drug mafia could be arrested.” The Mann Government has consistently stated that no thug, drug dealer, or corrupt official will be spared.
