Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema has strongly criticised the Central Government over the distribution of profits earned by the Reserve Bank of India. Reacting to the issue through a statement shared on the AAP Punjab social media page, Harpal Cheema on RBI profit distribution became a major political talking point in Punjab.
According to Harpal Cheema, the BJP-led Centre has allegedly taken control of ₹2.87 lakh crore out of the ₹4 lakh crore profit earned by the Reserve Bank of India. He claimed that the profits generated by the RBI belong to all states and should be distributed fairly instead of being concentrated with the Centre.

The Punjab minister further said that states rely heavily on financial support for welfare schemes, development projects, and public services. Through his remarks, Harpal Cheema on RBI profit distribution highlighted concerns over financial centralisation and its possible impact on state economies.
Cheema also alleged that the BJP government at the Centre is continuously interfering with the rights of state governments. He said such actions go against the spirit of cooperative federalism and create imbalance between the Centre and the states.
