Punjab Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO accused Congress chief Raja Warring of casteist remarks against ex-Union Minister Buta Singh, calling it anti-Dalit.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO claimed that Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has shown his casteist (manuwadi) mindset by making fun of former Union Home Minister Sardar Buta Singh.

The Cabinet Minister said in a statement that the person Raja Warring made fun of in his video as Pathe Paun Wala has a B.A. (Honours), M.A., and Ph.D. and had worked in many different fields, including journalism, before becoming a Member of Parliament at the young age of 25 in 1962.

Harbhajan Singh ETO said, “Raja Warring’s comments based on color go against the spirit of the Indian Constitution.” He also said that these kinds of comments show Warring’s attitude toward the Scheduled Castes in India.

He further added that the Congress Party has always been against Dalits and has a long history of being against Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He said that even Pratap Singh Bajwa, the head of the Congress party and the head of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly, had insulted a Dalit legislator by asking what type of “material” was being brought into the Assembly.

Harbhajan Singh remarked that the Scheduled Caste group of India would always be grateful to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for giving them the right to equality in the Constitution. Without this, leaders like Raja Warring would never have let Dalits rise and prosper.
