Dr. Baljit Kaur Directs Strict Monitoring of SC Welfare Funds in Punjab

Dr. Baljit Kaur reviews SC welfare schemes, directs strict monitoring of funds to ensure transparency and equal opportunities in Punjab.

Dr. Baljit Kaur, the minister of social justice, empowerment, and minorities, reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to social justice and empowerment . He instructed all departments to make sure that welfare programs intended for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and marginalized groups are implemented strictly and transparently.

Dr. Baljit Kaur chaired a high-level review meeting where he assessed the status of the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) activities and gave personnel strict directives to provide thorough reports on how the funds were being used.

She emphasized that the wellbeing of the Scheduled Caste community must be the sole purpose of SCSP monies, and she warned that any carelessness or laxity will result in disciplinary action.

“The Department of Social Justice is dedicated to improving the lives of those who are less fortunate and economically disadvantaged. The targeted beneficiaries must immediately profit from every rupee, she stated.

The Minister examined significant social welfare programs, such as the Aashirwad Scheme, the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, and the building and refurbishment of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhawans. About 2.45 lakh applications for the Post Matric Scholarship for SC Students (2025–26) have been received on the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Portal, according to officials, and verification and payment are presently underway.

Dr. Kaur emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy for inefficiency and stated that the Mann-led administration is committed to providing all worthy residents with equal opportunities and prompt help.

In order to educate eligible recipients about welfare programs and promote maximum participation, she also gave officials instructions to set up awareness camps in each district.

Deputy Director Sanjeev Kumar Mannan, Principal Secretary V.K. Meena, Additional Secretary Ravinder Singh, Director Vimmi Bhullar, and Nodal Officers Ravinderpal Singh, Suksagar Singh, Harpal Singh Gill, and Research Officer Livpreet Kaur were among the senior officials in attendance.
