In a moving video shared on Instagram, Diljit addressed the people of Punjab in Hindi, stressing the gravity of the situation. “Punjab ke halaat baad ki wajah se bahut kharaab hai… Punjab zakhmi hai par haara nahi hai,” he said. The artist described how homes, crops, and livestock have been washed away, leaving lives shattered, but insisted that Punjab’s spirit remains unbroken.

Commitment Beyond Words

Diljit reminded his followers that immediate relief like food and water, though important, was not enough. He emphasized that true support must continue until affected families can rebuild their lives. “Jab tak unki zindagiyan dobara shuru nahi hojaati hai, hum sab unke saath hai,” he said, promising long-term assistance.

The singer praised the efforts of local NGOs, Punjab’s media, and especially the state’s youth, who he noted were working tirelessly in rescue and relief operations. “Punjab ka youth khud aage aaya hai aur is stithi ko sambhaal raha hai. Main sabka bohot dhanyawaad karna chaaunga,” he added with folded hands.

Diljit also offered a prayer, asking for collective strength to overcome the disaster together. His emotional message resonated widely, quickly garnering support across social media.

Adoption of Villages and Relief Efforts

In a significant gesture, Diljit Dosanjh announced that he had adopted 10 flood-affected villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. Working alongside NGOs and local authorities, his team has begun supplying food, clean drinking water, and medical aid.

Once the floodwaters recede, the focus will shift toward long-term rehabilitation and rebuilding. According to his team’s statement, “Together, we can rebuild.” This includes efforts to restore housing, revive farming, and ensure access to education and healthcare in the affected regions.

Punjab’s Flood Situation

The floods have devastated around 1,655 villages across Punjab, submerging more than 1.75 lakh hectares of farmland. Districts including Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Ferozepur have been the hardest hit.

Authorities are employing advanced technology in relief efforts. In Amritsar’s Ajnala region, Punjab Police have even deployed drones to deliver relief packages to cut-off villages. Rescue teams continue evacuation operations in areas threatened by rising water levels along the Sutlej.

The state government has also mobilized disaster response forces, while community kitchens in gurdwaras are providing food to displaced families. Relief camps have been set up in several districts, ensuring temporary shelter for those who lost their homes.

A Message of Hope and Resilience

Diljit’s message underscores not just celebrity solidarity but also the importance of community-driven resilience. By adopting villages and pledging long-term help, he has gone beyond symbolic gestures to concrete action.

At a time when thousands of families face uncertainty, such initiatives highlight how collective effort can ease suffering and accelerate recovery. His words, “Punjab zakhmi hai par haara nahi hai,” have now become a rallying cry for strength and unity across the state.
