DIG Bhullar faces CBI court today via video; family requests unfreezing of bank accounts amid bribery and disproportionate assets case
DIG Bhullar – Video Conferencing will be used to participate in the proceedings, and a hearing will also be held about the request to unfreeze bank accounts.
After the conclusion of his judicial detention, DIG Bhullar is scheduled to make an appearance before the CBI Special Court today. He is facing serious allegations of receiving bribes and collecting assets that are disproportionate to his known sources of income. Instead of being brought into court physically, Bhullar will be hauled before the court via video conference. This is because of the security regulations and procedures that are in place at the jail. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already presented a number of essential pieces of evidence in the case, and it is anticipated that arguments will continue.
The freezing of bank accounts that belong to Bhullar and his family is another significant component of the hearing that took place today. Due to the fact that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has blocked practically all of his family’s banking capabilities, his family has submitted a motion to the court, alleging that it has become incredibly difficult to adequately manage household expenses. Therefore, it is required to unfreeze the accounts because, according to them, the accounts have been badly damaged, which includes payments for essentials and day-to-day expenses.
Not only has the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seized the personal pay account of DIG Bhullar, but it has also frozen the salary account of his son and the pension account of his father. The pay of Bhullar’s son, who is employed as an Assistant Advocate General in Punjab, is also not available to the public. The family’s financial difficulties have been made even more difficult by the fact that accounts that are tied to agricultural income and rental earnings have also been banned.

On the 17th of November, the attorney representing Bhullar, SPS Bhullar, submitted a petition to the district court requesting orders to take the accounts out of the frozen state. Immediately after this, the CBI Special Court sent a notice to the agency, requesting that it provide a response to the notification. As indicated by the court, the subsequent hearing on the subject is scheduled to take place on November 20. During this hearing, a decision may be made about the restoration of access to banking services.
According to the attorney for Bhullar, the Central Bureau of inquiry (CBI) may continue its inquiry; nevertheless, it is not justified to entirely freeze the family’s finances. It was his contention that the probe should not interfere with the family’s capacity to meet their fundamental day-to-day requirements. Additionally, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) believes that various aspects of Bhullar’s financial activities and property ownership are still being investigated, which is why it is vital to keep the accounts frozen for the time being.
At the hearing that will take place today, it is anticipated that Bhullar and his family will be provided with some form of financial aid. The investigation that is currently being conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against DIG Bhullar appears to be moving toward a more decisive phase.
