Punjab govt provides 287.95 crore financial aid to 2.76 lakh people with disabilities, promoting empowerment, skill development, and social inclusion.

“Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is fully committed to the welfare of every section of society, with special attention to the upliftment and empowerment of persons with disabilities,” stated Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development.

According to Dr. Baljit Kaur, 2,76,175 eligible recipients around the state have benefited from the 287.95 crore in financial aid that the Punjab government has so far made available to people with disabilities. She went on to say that in order to guarantee the efficient and open execution of this benefit program, the government has allocated 495 crore for the fiscal year 2025–2026.

The Minister underlined that one of the Punjab Government’s major priorities is integrating people with disabilities into society at large. To help people become self-sufficient and empowered, concentrated efforts are being undertaken to offer them accessible infrastructure, job opportunities, and training for skill development in addition to financial support. According to her, the government wants to help all people with disabilities live independent, respectable lives, not just help them.

Dr. Baljit Kaur gave the officials instructions to make sure that all eligible recipients of this financial aid program receive its advantages and that no worthy individual is excluded from this endeavor.
