Punjab Chief Minister participates in 'An Evening in the Name of Lord Shiva' in Rupnagar, launching new free pilgrimage routes starting August 1

RUPNAGAR, PUNJAB — Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann joined thousands of devotees in Rupnagar for the grand state-level devotional event, ‘An Evening in the Name of Lord Shiva’. The gathering brought together people from across the region during the holy month of Sawan. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann offered prayers alongside citizens and sought blessings for peace and prosperity in Punjab.

The Bhagwant Mann Rupnagar Lord Shiva event highlighted the government’s focus on social harmony and public welfare. Renowned devotional singer Hansraj Raghuwanshi performed hymns that captivated the large audience throughout the evening.

Devotional Gathering Highlights Unity and Peace

Addressing the attendees, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized Punjab’s long tradition of mutual respect and brotherhood. He noted that people of all faiths celebrate major festivals together in the state.

“Our Government is committed to fostering peace, communal harmony, and brotherhood in the state,” CM Bhagwant Mann stated. “We are walking on the path of righteousness shown by the great Gurus, saints, seers, and prophets”. He further noted that the fertile soil of Punjab yields many gifts, yet seeds of hatred can never take root here.

The state government specifically chose Rupnagar for this spiritual event due to its historical and cultural significance. Officials organized the program to foster community bonds while celebrating ancient heritage.

Major Expansion of Mukh Mantri Teerath Yatra Scheme

During the Bhagwant Mann Rupnagar Lord Shiva event, the Chief Minister announced an expansion of the Mukh Mantri Teerath Yatra Yojana. Starting August 1, 2026, special free pilgrimage bus services will operate directly from Rupnagar.

The new bus routes will link local pilgrims to major spiritual centers across northern India:

  • Haridwar & Rishikesh (Uttarakhand)
  • Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh)
  • Khatu Shyam Ji & Salasar Balaji (Rajasthan)

The state government will cover all travel, lodging, and logistics costs for senior citizens and families participating in the pilgrimage. The initiative aims to make religious travel simple, safe, and accessible for everyone regardless of income or background.

Public Funds Directed Toward Key Welfare Initiatives

Chief Minister Mann reiterated that taxpayer money belongs to the public and must fund meaningful welfare programs. He referenced existing initiatives such as free household electricity, public healthcare upgrades, school infrastructure improvements, and financial support for women through the Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna.

The Bhagwant Mann Rupnagar Lord Shiva event combined spiritual celebration with civic updates. Local administrators managed security, traffic, and visitor amenities smoothly to accommodate the high turnout. Devotees expressed gratitude for the free bus services connecting Rupnagar to major pilgrimage destinations.

The event concluded with collective prayers for the continued growth, unity, and prosperity of Punjab.
