Awards and Self-Help Groups Strengthen Punjab Women Empowerment and Promote Financial Independence

Chandigarh, Punjab: In a special press conference held today in Chandigarh, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted key initiatives promoting Punjab women empowerment. Under the State Rural Livelihood Mission, 100 women across 23 districts were awarded ₹25,000 each in recognition of their entrepreneurial efforts.

The program also honored 11,700 women across all assembly constituencies, reinforcing the government’s commitment to Punjab women empowerment and encouraging women to participate actively in economic and social development. During ceremonies held in 23 districts, 2,300 women were recognized for their outstanding contributions, showcasing a significant push toward gender equality in the state.

Self-Help Groups Strengthen Punjab Women Empowerment and Financial Independence

Additionally, approximately six lakh families have joined 58,303 self-help groups, further strengthening the network of women-led initiatives across Punjab. These self-help groups are a cornerstone of the government’s broader strategy to promote Punjab women empowerment, enhance financial independence, and provide sustainable livelihoods.

CM Bhagwant Mann emphasized, “Our goal is not only to honor these women but also to create an environment where women entrepreneurs thrive. The initiatives under the State Rural Livelihood Mission are key to advancing Punjab women empowerment and ensuring inclusive growth across the state.”

With these measures, the Mann government is taking tangible steps to empower women, foster entrepreneurship, and strengthen rural communities, marking a significant milestone in Punjab women empowerment initiatives.
