Punjab ranks 2nd in National Energy Conservation Awards 2025 for its energy efficiency and renewable initiatives under CM Bhagwant Mann.
The Punjab government’s consistent and strategically implemented initiatives in energy efficiency and conservation, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, have received national acknowledgment. Punjab has achieved second place in the State Performance Category of the National Energy Conservation Awards 2025, ranking the state among the leading performers nationally.
Punjab New and Renewable Energy Resources Minister Aman Arora was honored with the prestigious award by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, during the National Energy Conservation Awards 2025 ceremony conducted at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Speaking to the media following the award presentation, Aman Arora stated that the honor exemplifies the Punjab government’s steadfast dedication to advancing energy efficiency through targeted and sustained initiatives.

He emphasized that the state government has implemented numerous substantial measures to enhance infrastructure and decrease energy consumption. In the agricultural sector, approximately 18,000 solar tube-well pumps have been installed to date, with ongoing initiatives aimed at further expanding this figure. Furthermore, 185 energy-efficient motors have been deployed within the MSME sector, including Verka facilities. The government has also effectively executed rooftop solar initiatives with a combined capacity of 35 MW on government structures throughout the state.
Aman Arora highlighted that enhancing energy efficiency in structures is a critical focus for achieving energy savings within the commercial sector. The Punjab government has officially promulgated the Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code through amendments to the National Energy Conservation Building Code to accommodate the state’s composite climate zone. The code has been integrated into building bye-laws, resulting in 850 buildings to date being brought into compliance with ECBC standards.
