Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak Appeals to Union Government and High Powered Committee to Ensure Continuous Supply of LPG, Petrol, and Diesel

Chandigarh :  Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak has urged the Union Government to ensure there is no shortage of essential commodities, including LPG, petrol, and diesel, amid the ongoing volatile situation in the West Asian region. The appeal comes as the state government takes proactive measures to prevent disruption and maintain public confidence.

Chairing a high-level meeting with representatives from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Minister Kataruchak emphasized the importance of coordination among agencies to ensure a seamless supply. “In view of the war in West Asia, the Union Government must ensure that there is no dearth of essential commodities such as LPG, petrol, and diesel so that the public does not face any inconvenience,” he said.

Punjab Essential Commodities Supply: Minister Urges High Powered Committee to Prevent Public Panic

The Minister highlighted the role of the High Powered Committee constituted by the Union Government, urging it to remain vigilant and take all necessary steps to maintain adequate supply. “The committee must ensure that no panic arises among the public due to the volatile situation in West Asia,” he added.

To strengthen monitoring at the local level, Minister Kataruchak directed senior officers to coordinate closely with Deputy Commissioners and District Food Supply Controllers. Representatives of gas and petroleum companies were also instructed to be actively involved in maintaining uninterrupted delivery of essential goods.

“No illegal hoarding of essential items will be tolerated. Any attempts to manipulate the supply chain will be met with strict action,” the Minister warned. These measures form part of Punjab’s comprehensive strategy to guarantee Punjab Essential Commodities Supply, ensuring that residents receive timely and adequate access to crucial resources.

The state government continues to closely monitor the situation, emphasizing transparency, coordination, and accountability to protect citizens from potential shortages and maintain public confidence in essential services.
