Ujjain: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday reviewed the ongoing infrastructure development for Simhastha-2028, emphasizing the importance of preparing for this globally significant religious event. He noted that during the festival, millions of devotees will take a holy dip in the sacred Shipra River, making it a focal point of attention for the world. Dr. Yadav stressed that ensuring a smooth and convenient experience for every devotee must be a top priority.
The Chief Minister evaluated the progress of development works being carried out by various departments and urged residents and officials to adopt a spirit of service, complete projects within the designated timelines, and maintain high-quality standards.
Focus on Farmers’ Crops and Water Management
Dr. Yadav instructed officials to maintain adequate water supply for wheat crops while ghat construction progresses on the Shipra River, directing the use of Narmada water as needed. He emphasized that the crops require proper irrigation and water levels in the Shipra must be continuously monitored.

Strict Directions for Officials
The Chief Minister directed all officials to work with dedication and seriousness, ensuring that no obstacles hinder Simhastha-2028 preparations. A Simhastha Cell has been established at the Chief Minister’s residence for continuous monitoring. Dr. Yadav also suggested appointing retired officers or experienced personnel wherever necessary to accelerate project execution. He called for a reverse calendar approach to complete all construction works on time, highlighting the need to transition from micro-management to nano-management, with 24×7 monitoring.

Citizen Participation and Coordination
Dr. Yadav urged Ujjain residents to take personal responsibility for the festival’s success and encouraged departments to coordinate closely to achieve timely completion of infrastructure development.
Instructions to Officials for Simhastha-2028 Preparations:
- Develop infrastructure in homestays, dharamshalas, schools, colleges, and other facilities for the festival.
- Train villagers in Ujjain for homestay arrangements and prepare separate plans for internal and external arrangements of the fair area.
- Use festivals such as Mahashivratri, Shravan, and Nag Panchami as pilot events to test arrangements and improve crowd management plans.
- Identify alternative routes to Ujjain and key ghats, upgrading them for better crowd flow and integrating Google Maps for navigation.
- Encourage the construction of community facilities outside the Simhastha fair area to manage crowd density.
- Establish incentives for construction agencies that complete works on time.
The review meeting was attended by Ujjain’s Minister-in-Charge Shri Gautam Tetwal, Mayor Shri Mukesh Tatwal, MLAs Shri Anil Jain Kaluheda, Shri Satish Malviya, Shri Jitendra Pandya, Municipal Corporation Chairperson Smt. Kalavati Yadav, Divisional Commissioner Shri Ashish Singh, ADG Shri Rakesh Gupta, Collector Shri Roshan Kumar Singh, and other departmental officials.
