MP Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla meets Amara Raja at WEF 2026 to discuss renewable energy, battery storage, and hybrid solar solutions.
Davos: On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026, Madhya Pradesh Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Rakesh Shukla, and Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Manu Shrivastava, held detailed discussions with Shri Jay Galla, Co-founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of the Amara Raja Group, focusing on renewable energy, energy storage, and battery-based solutions.
The meeting explored potential areas of collaboration for integrating renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh and addressing the state’s future energy needs. Representatives from Amara Raja sought updates on energy storage initiatives in the state. Shri Shrivastava informed that a major battery storage project in Morena is already operational, providing electricity during peak evening and early morning hours.
Highlighting Madhya Pradesh’s long-term renewable energy strategy, Shri Shrivastava stated that all upcoming projects are being designed with integrated battery storage to enable 24-hour solar power generation, in line with the state’s progressive renewable energy policy.

The discussions also covered diversifying energy storage technologies. A pumped storage policy is under development, with consultations ongoing with private developers. The feasibility of hybrid energy models, including hydro-solar and thermal-solar combinations, is being studied, evaluating both technical and cost considerations.
Future Roadmap
Both parties agreed to maintain continuous engagement for sharing detailed project data, evaluating technological options, and exploring potential collaboration in advanced energy storage and battery solutions. The discussions underscored Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to a future-ready energy ecosystem, focusing on renewable energy, integrated storage, and sustainable long-term development.
