Madhya Pradesh celebrates Republic Day 2026 with Governor Mangubhai Patel and CM Dr. Mohan Yadav hosting reception featuring patriotic folk performances.
On the occasion of Republic Day 2026, a reception was held on Monday at Lok Bhavan, Madhya Pradesh, where Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav exchanged greetings with the attendees.
The event was also attended by Panchayat, Rural Development and Labour Minister Shri Prahlad Patel, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Smt. Krishna Gaur, Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, MLA and State President Shri Hemant Khandelwal, among other dignitaries.

At the reception, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav welcomed the Governor with a bouquet. The cultural program featured performances by Padma Shri awardee folk singer Malini Awasthi, celebrating India’s freedom struggle through music and traditional art forms. The program included renditions such as Suriname-based poet Raghuvir Prasad’s “Batohiya,” Kajri-style revolutionary compositions like “Kitne Veer Jhule Jhulaaye, Beimaan Jhoolanwa,” Mathura’s folk Rasia song “Jang Mein Pakad Loongi Talwar,” and Alha traditions from Awadh honoring the bravery of Mangal Pandey. Patriotic compositions by Vidyadharini Bai of Kashi and Gorakhpur folk songs highlighted resistance against British rule, while a Phag-style rendition of Bahadur Shah Zafar’s lines, “Loot Gayi Bagiya Saari, Jal Gayi Phulwari,” concluded the performances with a strong message of nationalism.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, DGP Shri Kailash Makwana, Padma awardees, judges, chancellors of universities, MLAs, panchayat representatives, senior officials from the Army, Police, Administration, and Judicial Services, along with journalists, sportspersons, students, and other distinguished citizens who have contributed to rural development and public welfare.
