CM Mohan Yadav Pushes Ken–Betwa Project for Bundelkhand

Madhya Pradesh to lead India’s river-linking mission as Ken–Betwa project moves into action phase.

CM Mohan Yadav outlines Bundelkhand’s roadmap for water, tourism, agriculture, and education during Khajuraho review meeting

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the Ken-Betwa river linking project in Bundelkhand will contribute to alleviating water shortages for irrigation, industrial use, and potable water. The central government is offering a grant covering 90% of the costs for the river linking project. Through this initiative, adequate water resources will be effectively managed for irrigation and industrial purposes. Madhya Pradesh is the foremost state in the advancement of the river linking scheme.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav delivered a press conference following the departmental review meeting at the convention centre in Khajuraho on Monday. He stated that the government is ongoing in its efforts to enhance tourism throughout Madhya Pradesh, including the Bundelkhand region. The opening of the Oberoi Hotel in Chhatarpur constitutes a component of this initiative. He further stated that, in addition to tourism, several development initiatives are underway in the mining and healthcare sectors within Bundelkhand. The Chief Minister stated that the government is in the process of formulating an action plan aimed at the development and upliftment of Bundelkhand. He underscored the importance of persistent efforts to promote the development of Bundelkhand. Significant decisions will be made to advance industry and tourism within the region. The government continues to dedicate itself to fostering growth in the sectors of education, health, industry, tourism, and other vital areas within Bundelkhand.

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav emphasized efforts to advance education in Bundelkhand, which encompass the development of Rani Avantibai College in Sagar, financial assistance for Chhatrasal University, and the creation of PM Excellence Colleges. Medical colleges will also be established in the Bundelkhand region. He stated that the government is consistently striving to provide employment opportunities for every technically proficient student. The Chief Minister announced that, in order to reconcile the divide between the government and the populace, cabinet meetings focused on regional development will now be convened within the respective localities. The cabinet meeting held in Khajuraho represents a significant advancement in this regard.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that the departmental review was conducted to assess the achievements of the past two years and to establish objectives for the upcoming three years. He announced that the city of Bhopal will be presented with the metro rail on the 21st of this month. On the occasion of the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the foundation laying and inauguration of several projects totaling nearly ₹2 lakh crore will be carried out. The Chief Minister announced that the year 2026 will be designated for the advancement and enhancement of various sectors related to agriculture. Throughout the year, sustained efforts will be undertaken to strengthen the agriculture sector through the development of agriculture-based industries, food processing facilities, and other agri-industrial initiatives, with the goal of increasing farmers’ income sources.
