ECI wraps up two-day Chief Electoral Officers meeting, reviewing SIR process and electoral roll mapping for poll-bound states.

The two-day Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) organized by the Election Commission of India (ECI) came to an end today at the India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi.

According to an ECI spokeswoman, Chief Election Commissioner Sh. Gyanesh Kumar chaired the meeting with Election Commissioners Dr. Vivek Joshi and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu present. The conference was attended by CEOs of the States and UTs from all throughout the nation.

The CEOs were instructed by the Commission to complete their State/UT preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Following the Commission’s senior officials’ presentations on the SIR process, the CEOs’ questions were also addressed.

The Commission evaluated how well the CEOs were following the instructions given to them earlier to map the present electors with the electors according to the most recent SIR in the State or UT.

The CEOs of the poll-bound states and union territories of Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal also had one-on-one conversations with the Commission.

The conference is a follow-up to the SIR readiness meeting that took place on September 10, 2025, where each State/UT presented in detail the number of electors, the last SIR qualifying date, and the electoral roll in their State/UT according to the most recent SIR that was completed.
