International Gita Mahotsav 2025 begins in Kurukshetra with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Vedic chanting, cultural events, and global participation.

The International Gita Mahotsav 2025 got underway in Kurukshetra today, where the holy Bhagavad Gita was ceremoniously venerated, amid the sound of conch shells and Vedic mantras. The 2025 International Gita Mahotsav was officially opened with the chanting of the holy Gita’s verses and a big worship (Mahapoojan).

Around Brahma Sarovar, the holy vibrations of Gita recitations permeated the entire atmosphere. At the Brahma Sarovar, former Minister of State Sh. Subhash Sudha, Kurukshetra Lok Sabha MP Sh. Naveen Jindal, Gita scholar Swami Gyananand Maharaj, Defence Minister Sh. Rajnath Singh, Cabinet Minister Sh. Anil Vij, and Cabinet Minister Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi performed “pooja” and offered the last oblations in the Gita Yajna.

The Purushottampura Bagh, which is close to Brahma Sarovar, celebrated the arrival of its visitors with Vedic chanting. BJP District President Sh. Tejinder Singh Goldy, KDB Honorary Secretary Sh. Upender Singhal, Vice Chairman of the Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board Sh. Dhuman Singh, and Chief Minister’s political advisor Sh. Bharat Bhushan Bharti gave a customary greeting. All tourists and guests were welcomed by folk artists from all states of the nation, who celebrated their presence on the holy site of Kurukshetra by dressing in their traditional garb.

Defense Minister Sh. Rajnath Singh venerated the sacred Gita after making the last oblation in the Gita Yajna. He greeted the citizens of the nation and the state and remarked that there is a heavenly convergence of spirituality, culture, knowledge, and art in the holy city of Kurukshetra. The central government and state governments worked to make Gita Jayanti an International Gita Mahotsav. He continued by saying that the Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas were written on the banks of the Saraswati River. Thanesar, the magnificent capital of Emperor Harshavardhan, was situated here as well. Given Kurukshetra’s importance, Lord Krishna choose it as the site of the Mahabharata conflict and gave Arjuna the holy teachings of Karma Yoga, which still motivate people.

In addition to its philosophical and spiritual significance, the Gita is also highly applicable in everyday life, according to Cabinet Minister Sh. Anil Vij. Because it is a singular example of science and knowledge, the Gita is beloved by both Indians and people from other countries. Over the past nine years, the festival has become incredibly popular and successful. It was also observed in Mauritius, London, Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka, and other nations outside of India in 2019.

Every year, millions of people attend this festival, according to Cabinet Minister Sh. Krishan Kumar Bedi. The celebration is scheduled to run through December 5. There are numerous events planned throughout the state in honor of the International Gita Mahotsav. Madhya Pradesh is taking part this year as a partner state. As a result of these initiatives, the Gita Mahotsav’s fame and the splendor of the holy book have transcended national borders and spread around the world.

The International Gita Mahotsav 2025’s arts and crafts festival started on November 15 and Gita scholar Swami Gyananand Maharaj wished everyone a happy Gita Jayanti.
