Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated a two-day road safety symposium in Chandigarh, marking the first time the state has hosted a comprehensive national-level discussion focused on road safety. The road safety symposium has brought together experts and policymakers from across the country to address one of India’s most pressing challenges.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Saini described the road safety symposium as a matter of great pride for Haryana. He emphasized that such a platform would play a crucial role in shaping the future of road construction practices and safety initiatives nationwide.
Highlighting the state’s infrastructure progress, Saini said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, Haryana has seen significant development in road construction. He noted that 2,417 km of roads have been built using modern technology at a cost of ₹2,534 crore, strengthening connectivity across the state.
He further added that under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 2,432 km of rural roads have been constructed with an investment of ₹1,077 crore, improving accessibility in rural areas.

Reinforcing the importance of driver training, the Chief Minister announced that the state government has established seven new driver training institutes. These institutes aim to enhance the skills of heavy and transport vehicle drivers, contributing significantly to improved road safety standards.
The road safety symposium is expected to generate valuable insights and actionable strategies, further strengthening Haryana’s commitment to safer roads and better infrastructure.
