Across the nation, including in Karnal, he said, processions and other events are being planned in honor of the ninth Sikh Guru’s 350th anniversary of martyrdom. This is where thousands of young people have come to honor Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. In his words, the marathon is more than just a run; it is a passionate demonstration of respect, fervor, and feeling for the great freedom fighters who gave their lives for the country.

There were almost 61,000 young men and women who ran the 5 km, while hundreds of more ran the 10 km and 21 km, according to the Union Minister.

Recalling Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s sacrifice, the Minister stated that the Guru was decapitated at Delhi’s Chandni Chowk’s Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib. He added that the trip of conveying the precious head of the Guru from Delhi to Anandpur Sahib was a unique act of sacrifice connected to Haryana’s soil. In the Sonipat district’s Badkhalsa village, a young man offered his own head as a sacrifice to defend the Guru’s head against the Mughal army.

After launching the marathon, the Union Minister showered the runners with flower petals. His presence was used to launch the song “Hind Ki Chadar, Teg Bahadur” before to the flag-off. Additionally, a shabad-kirtan recital was part of the program. Young athletes also displayed performances of Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial technique. At 5 a.m., a sizable contingent of youth had assembled at NDRI Chowk to participate in the marathon. A photograph of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and a kirpan were given to the Union Minister during the program.
