Three-phase exercise to test emergency response, coordination, and disaster readiness ahead of monsoon season

Haryana is set to strengthen its disaster preparedness with a major Haryana state-level flood mock drill scheduled for May 14 across 13 sensitive districts. The initiative aims to test coordination among agencies and improve emergency response mechanisms ahead of the monsoon season. This Haryana state-level flood mock drill will involve full participation from frontline workers, government departments, and local communities.

According to the Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the exercise will be conducted in three structured phases. The Haryana state-level flood mock drill begins on May 6 with an orientation and coordination meeting held via video conferencing. The second phase on May 12 will be a table-top exercise focusing on emergency response systems, communication protocols, and simulated crisis scenarios. The final phase on May 14 will be a full-scale ground-level operation across selected districts.

Dr. Sumita Misra, Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, stated that the objective of the exercise is to ensure seamless coordination among all stakeholders. She emphasized that the Haryana state-level flood mock drill is designed to test real-time readiness and improve response efficiency in flood-like situations. She further added that such exercises are crucial for minimizing risk and enhancing preparedness at every level.
