CM Nayab Singh Saini accelerates Haryana’s renewable energy mission, aiming for 2.22 lakh rooftop solar systems by March 2027 and safer power infrastructure.

In order to expedite the state’s transition to green power, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed that all government facilities, including schools, colleges, hospitals, and administrative buildings, be equipped with rooftop solar systems.

During a high-level assessment of the civil secretariat’s power-sector budget commitments, he asked officials to expedite the PM Suryaghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’s implementation, monitor monthly progress closely, and enforce stricter monitoring to maintain installations on schedule.

In order to maximize the state’s potential for renewable energy, he also urged the construction of new solar parks around Haryana and directed departments to promptly remove outdated power poles from main thoroughfares in order to enhance both safety and urban aesthetics.

As of November 20, 2025, 42,486 rooftop solar installations had been finished in Haryana. The goal established by the state is to install 2,22,000 rooftop systems by March 31, 2027. The Saur Urja Protsahan Yojana, a new program that power utilities have presented for government approval, is anticipated to greatly increase rooftop solar adoption once approved.

Saini emphasized that in order to guarantee that every family has access to electricity around-the-clock, all power-sector promises must be fulfilled on time. With the help of significant capacity additions, such as the planned 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal plant at Yamunanagar, which will be completed with BHEL’s assistance, Haryana intends to increase its power availability to 24,000 MW over the course of the next seven years.
