CM Nayab Singh Saini sanctions Rs 13.70 crore for door-to-door garbage collection and sanitation improvements in Haryana municipalities.
A meeting of the High-Powered Works Purchase Committee (Urban Local Bodies), chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was convened on Tuesday, during which 22 agenda items from the Urban Local Bodies Department were presented to the Committee. Among these, 18 transactions valued at over Rs 157 crore received approval. Savings of approximately Rs 7.91 crore were realized during the meeting.
The Chief Minister sanctioned projects valued at Rs 13.70 crore for door-to-door waste collection and sanitation maintenance across 11 municipalities and municipal councils. These encompass projects in Panipat involving the cleansing of sewer lines with advanced technology and the enhancement of obstructed pipelines. Furthermore, approval was granted for initiatives concerning the appropriate disposal of waste and the enhancement of sanitation systems under Solid Waste Management in various municipalities, including Siwani, Hisar, and Barwala.

During the meeting, tasks were also assigned to enhance and fortify sanitation systems within the municipal corporations, municipalities, and municipal councils of Bawal, Palwal, Hansi, Jind, Sohna, Pataudi, Jhajjar, Hodal, Gurugram, Bandhwari, and Rohtak.
The Chief Minister instructed that comprehensive sanitation be maintained across all urban local bodies and that officers consistently oversee the progress of the works. He stated that all vendors are required to utilize e-rickshaws, tractors, dumpers, and other resources rigorously in accordance with prescribed standards and to ensure there is no negligence in door-to-door garbage collection. He underscored the importance of consistent segregation of household refuse, followed by appropriate disposal. Commendation certificates will be conferred upon individuals demonstrating exemplary performance, while stringent measures will be enforced against vendors who neglect their responsibilities.
