Energy Minister Anil Vij announces major electrical distribution overhaul in Ambala Cantonment to benefit 1.5 lakh residents and industries.
Energy Minister Anil Vij of Haryana stated that a significant initiative to upgrade the Ambala Cantonment’s electrical distribution system was started today. According to him, a city whose power infrastructure was not strengthened by past governments at a cost of Rs. 38 crore through the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) is now experiencing this development. Billions of rupees have been spent on Ambala Cantonment development projects under the current administration.
Vij was speaking to a sizable crowd at Kabadi Bazaar in Ambala Cantonment following the opening of the projects intended to improve the RDSS’s electrical distribution infrastructure.
According to the Energy Minister, “the entire city’s power infrastructure will be upgraded so that people can work, businesses can grow, and trade can flourish.” The project is scheduled to be finished within the next year. Asking for the public’s help, he stated that efforts are being made in all areas and that he is sure the city will keep developing with the love and support of its citizens.

According to Vij, seven additional feeders will be built at a cost of Rs. 38 crore, which would improve load balancing and provide a steady voltage supply. To address voltage-related problems, 127 new transformers will be built. Also being moved are a number of outdated transformers that are presently situated on walkways and highways.
Furthermore, 28 kilometers of HD XLPE cable will be installed, and 2817 kilometers of ACSR conductor and 454 kilometers of LT XLPE cable will be swapped out with contemporary insulated wires. By doing this, fault incidences will be greatly decreased, and the power supply will become safer and more dependable. 6,131 additional PCC poles will be placed to further fortify the network, giving both rural and urban areas’ electrical infrastructure greater strength.
Following the completion of all these projects, the program will directly benefit almost 1.5 lakh persons. An better and continuous power supply will be provided to farmers, residential consumers, traders, and industry everywhere.
In the XEN office complex, staff quarters are to be constructed.
A new XEN office has been built at Ambala Cantonment, where SDO Nos. 1 and 2 are also operating under one roof, according to the Energy Minister. There have also been directives to build staff quarters on the same property. In order to help the people who live across the railway line, he added, a new sub-station is being built close to Shahpur-Machhonda. In the settlement of Garnala, a new service center has also been opened. All of the villages from Panjokhra Sahib to Baldev Nagar that formerly had to travel to Ambala city are now connected to the Ambala Cantonment sub-station. For the industrial sector, a new service center is also proposed.

Officers should be commended for ensuring an uninterrupted electricity supply during the state’s busiest summer months.
According to Sh. Vij, there are two components to guaranteeing a continuous supply of electricity to homes: power generation and transmission via power lines, transformers, and substations. Both domains need to operate effectively. With thermal plants at Panipat, Khedar, and Yamunanagar, Haryana now produces about 3,000 MW of electricity. In Yamunanagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated an 800 MW facility. An further 800 MW thermal plant is being constructed in Khedar, and permission from the central government has also been requested for a plant near Panipat.
