Rising crime in Surat has become a major political and public safety concern after the Aam Aadmi Party submitted a memorandum to the Surat Police Commissioner demanding urgent action to restore law and order in the city.
The delegation, led by senior AAP leaders Ram Dhaduk and Dharmesh Bhanderi, highlighted that rising crime in Surat reflects a serious breakdown in the city’s security system. They claimed that incidents of murder, drug trafficking, and illegal liquor trade have increased significantly in recent weeks.
Ram Dhaduk stated that the recent spate of violent incidents, including multiple reported killings, shows that criminals are operating without fear. He said that rising crime in Surat is a direct result of administrative negligence and weak enforcement of law and order.
Rising crime in Surat Sparks Calls for Stronger Patrolling, Faster PCR Response, and Crackdown on Organized Crime Networks
Dharmesh Bhanderi emphasized that police must strengthen patrolling, improve PCR van response, and ensure strict action against organized crime networks. He added that rising crime in Surat has created fear among citizens while criminals continue to operate openly.
The memorandum also demanded immediate closure of drug and alcohol hubs, strict action against growing weapon culture among youth, recruitment to address police staff shortages, and better use of CCTV surveillance for crime detection. These demands were raised in response to rising crime in Surat and its impact on public safety.

AAP leaders further alleged that CCTV systems should be used primarily to catch criminals rather than only for issuing fines, stressing that rising crime in Surat must be addressed through stronger policing and accountability.
