AAP Gujarat’s Frontal Organization State President, Praveen Ram, launched a sharp attack on the BJP government over the recently announced trade deal between India and the United States. He warned that the deal could prove harmful for Indian farmers in the coming days.
According to Praveen Ram, the U.S. Agriculture Secretary recently stated that “India is now a big market for American farmers.” He said that if American agricultural products enter India with zero percent tariff, the prices of Indian farmers’ produce—earned through hard work and sweat—will drop, pushing Indian farmers into financial distress.

Praveen Ram further highlighted that a similar decision was previously taken by the BJP government for cotton imports from the U.S., applying a zero percent tariff. Now, with reports indicating similar tariff relaxations on other agricultural products, he expressed concerns about the challenges Indian farmers may face.
He also criticized the imbalance in the trade deal, noting that while Indian products entering the U.S. face an 18% tariff, American products can enter India with zero percent tariff. He questioned how such a trade deal could be beneficial for India and stated that the BJP government has jeopardized the country’s agricultural interests.
“My clear opinion is that such trade deals could prove detrimental to Indian farmers, putting their livelihoods and financial security at serious risk,” said Praveen Ram.
