Manoj Sorathiya: BJP Using FIRs to Exert Political Pressure in Gujarat Elections

Ahmedabad – As the Gujarat Assembly elections approach, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of exerting political pressure in Gujarat elections through targeted FIRs against AAP candidates and workers.

AAP State Organization General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya stated that even today, multiple FIRs were registered against AAP candidates and activists. “The fact that BJP is filing FIRs against only AAP workers and candidates, while Congress leaders remain untouched, clearly shows the use of political pressure in Gujarat elections,” Sorathiya said.

According to Sorathiya, BJP’s repeated attempts to intimidate AAP candidates indicate its fear of the party’s rising popularity in the state. “This election is the first time BJP is facing such a strong challenge in Gujarat. The public is ready to vote against BJP’s misgovernance, and that is why these tactics are being used. It is a clear example of political pressure in Gujarat elections to suppress the voice of the people,” he added.

Sorathiya also emphasized that AAP has already declared nearly 5,500 candidates, and BJP is trying to create fear, pressure, and confusion to force candidates to withdraw. “When the people of Gujarat sweep away corruption and misrule, it will pave the way for better governance and brighter days. Until BJP remains in power, ordinary citizens’ conditions will not improve,” he warned.

Reacting to these developments, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj condemned the BJP’s tactics and said, “The systematic use of FIRs against only one party is a misuse of power. Such political pressure in Gujarat elections undermines democracy and needs to be addressed immediately.”

Analysts say this growing trend of targeting opposition candidates highlights the urgent need for electoral reforms and accountability. AAP leaders are calling on the people of Gujarat to recognize these tactics and vote for better governance, signaling that the coming elections could be a turning point in the state’s political landscape.
