Ahmedabad ,Gujarat – Several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and farmer activists, including Praveen Ram, Ramesh Mer, Hansraj Bhalala, Vipul Hariyani, Vipul Makwana, and Jitendra Govindia, were released from jail after 108 days. The leaders were detained while raising their voices against the exploitative Kadda Pratha practice affecting farmers in Gujarat.
The release ceremony was attended by AAP Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi, MLA Hemant Khava, State Organization Minister Ajit Lokhil, Saurashtra Zone In-charge Rajubhai Borkhataria, Youth President Brijraj Solanki, State Spokesperson Dr. Karan Barot, and several other party leaders and workers, who warmly welcomed the released leaders.
In a press conference, farmer leader Praveen Ram said, “The BJP kept us in jail for 108 days to suppress farmers’ voices and break our movement. But we came out stronger and will continue working with the same determination. Many innocent farmers were also wrongfully jailed, yet we remained unbroken. BJP should know that the farmers’ struggle will not stop, and we will fight fearlessly for our rights.”
He also thanked farmers, AAP workers, party leadership, and media friends for their support. Ram pledged to continue the fight for farmers’ rights, including addressing ongoing grievances related to land, water, and exploitation by traders. He emphasized that the struggle will continue and that people will hold the authorities accountable in upcoming Taluka and Zilla Panchayat elections.
Ramesh Mer, another AAP leader, criticized the harsh treatment of farmers during the crackdown, saying, “Farmers were subjected to brutal treatment, similar to how terrorists are handled. Even farmers with serious illnesses like cancer were denied proper care. Officials showed heroism only against farmers but not against traders exploiting them.”

AAP Gujarat President Isudan Gadhvi said the BJP had initiated the Kadda Pratha system to control and exploit farmers through APMC monopolies. “It was only after AAP leaders like Raju Karpadra and Praveen Ram raised their voices that the government issued circulars to end this exploitative practice. Despite attempts to suppress the movement, including false cases and jail sentences, AAP leaders have emerged victorious and the struggle will continue for the rights of 5.4 million farmers in Gujarat,” he said.
The release of these leaders marks a significant victory for the farmers’ movement in Gujarat, and AAP has vowed to continue its fight for justice, fair treatment, and the rights of the agricultural community.
