AAP Surat general secretary Shrawan Joshi arrested in alleged false case; AAP Gujarat calls BJP action politically motivated, demands immediate release.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised serious allegations against the BJP following the arrest of Shrawan Joshi, Surat city general secretary. Joshi, known for his efforts to expose alleged fraudulent activities by the BJP in Gujarat, was taken into custody in what the party claims is a fabricated case.
AAP Surat city president Dharmesh Patel (@DharmeshAAP) reacted strongly on X, describing the arrest as a targeted attack to silence party voices that are working to hold the ruling party accountable. According to him, the BJP has repeatedly attempted to suppress opposition voices through intimidation and politically motivated legal actions.
Shrawan Joshi has been active in raising issues of corruption and mismanagement in Surat, particularly highlighting alleged irregularities in municipal and party-run projects. The AAP leadership has demanded his immediate release and called for an impartial investigation into the circumstances leading to his arrest.

“This is a blatant misuse of power and an attempt to scare those who stand up for transparency and justice in Surat,” said Dharmesh Patel. “We will not be intimidated and will continue to fight for the rights of the citizens.”
The BJP has not yet issued an official statement regarding the arrest. Local authorities confirmed that Joshi was taken into custody under charges that are currently under investigation.
