AAP leaders, including Dharmik Mathukiia, were detained during a ‘road samadhi’ protest over the dilapidated Dhoraji–Junagarh highway in Gujarat.
Dhoraji, Gujarat: Several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Dharmik Mathukiia, Salim Mughal, Alfaz Mandhara, Jay Topia and other party workers, were detained by police on Wednesday after they launched a unique ‘road samadhi’ protest demanding urgent repairs on the severely damaged Dhoraji–Junagarh highway. The demonstration was led by ASAP state president Dharmik Mathukiia, who shared videos and updates through the official AAP Gujarat X page.
Protest Over Negligence on Key Highway
The AAP student wing accused the state authorities of ignoring the deteriorating condition of the highway, which has become unsafe for daily commuters. The protesters lay down on the road as a symbolic act to highlight the danger faced by thousands of residents who travel on the route regularly.
Party members argued that the poor condition of the highway reflects “years of neglect” and that repeated appeals to the local administration have gone unanswered. “If the government will not fix the road, we will show them what people are going through,” one protester said during the demonstration.

Police Detain AAP Workers
As the protest disrupted traffic, local police intervened and detained multiple leaders and volunteers, including Dharmik Mathukiia. Despite the detentions, AAP leaders stated that their agitation would continue until the government takes concrete steps to repair the route.
Videos shared by AAP Gujarat on X show large groups of volunteers participating in the protest, chanting slogans and demanding accountability from the authorities.
AAP Demands Immediate Road Repair
AAP Gujarat has called for immediate reconstruction of the Dhoraji–Junagarh highway, stating that the delay has put countless lives at risk. Party leaders have also urged the state government to conduct an audit of all major roads in the region.
The protest is expected to spark further political debate as public dissatisfaction grows over infrastructure issues in rural and semi-urban Gujarat.
