At Sarai Kale Khan, the final unfinished station on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor is prepared to open.
New Delhi: Sarai Kale Khan, the final pending station on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) route, is prepared to open. September 17 is the most likely date for its inauguration. According to National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) authorities, the new station will cut the travel time between Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut to less than an hour, with stops at each station.
According to sources, the corridor’s inauguration is anticipated to take place on September 17, which is also Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. There isn’t any formal confirmation, though.
Sarai Kale Khan station : According to the official, the Sarai Kale Khan station, one of the biggest along the 82.15-kilometer track, is built to accommodate massive passenger numbers and is anticipated to develop into a significant transit hub that links Delhi with the surrounding states.
According to her, the Sarai Kale Khan station is also a crucial center for multimodal transportation, connecting train stations, bus terminals, and metro lines to provide seamless interchanges for travelers.

According to the official, all trainsets have been locally developed in Hyderabad and produced at the Alstom facility in Gujarat as part of the government’s “Make in India” campaign.
According to her, the station, which is 215 meters long, 50 meters wide, and 15 meters high, will provide for easy connectivity across three RRTS corridors and is being positioned as a gateway to the National Capital Region (NCR).
According to her, the project, which is likely to cost over Rs 30,000 crore, will raise the percentage of public transportation on the Delhi-Meerut route from the present 37% to 63%.
Rapid rail from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram
Trains have already finished their trial runs, stopping at every station along the way to cover the distance between Sarai Kale Khan and Modipuram in less than one hour. Currently, the 55-kilometer operating portion serves 11 stations between Meerut South and Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar.
The official emphasized that the new routes from Meerut South to Modipuram and from Sarai Kale Khan to New Ashok Nagar, in addition to the Meerut Metro network, will improve intracity and intercity connections.
“With a top operating speed of 160 km/h, Namo Bharat trains provide a quick, cozy, and dependable choice for commuters traveling greater distances. Passengers enjoy faster journey times and fewer stops than traditional railway or metro services, and they are not need to make reservations for seats,” NCRTC spokeswoman Puneet Vats stated.
“This corridor is designed not just for mobility but to foster balanced regional development and reduce carbon emissions by promoting public transport,” he stated.
With specialized coaches, female employees, and surveillance systems guaranteeing safe and inclusive travel, the project has also placed a high priority on women’s empowerment and safety. According to the source, there are a lot of women working along the corridor as station controllers and train operators.
