Ronak Khatri : The message came from a Ukrainian +380 number, though Rohit Godara, usually based in Portugal, typically uses the country code +351.

New Delhi:  On WhatsApp, Ronak Khatri , the former president of Delhi University, got a death threat. Rohit Godara is said to have sent Khatri the menacing SMS, in which he demands Rs 5 crore. The message threatened to shoot him if he didn’t follow the order.

“You can stop playing politics. Be willing to die or pay Rs 5 crore. How long will you continue to disregard our calls? You will now observe the approach of a bullet,” the notification said.

“We won’t settle for anything less than Rs 5 crore,” it stated.

Khatri lodged a police report.

In the meantime, Khatri has reported the threat to the Delhi Police.

“I am not someone who will be intimidated by threats from such gangsters,” claimed the man.

Interestingly, the message was received from a number with the Ukrainian country code +380, but Rohit Godara, who is located in Portugal, typically uses a number with the +351 country code.

The matter is presently being investigated by the police.

Ronak Khatri: Who is he

A student activist at Delhi University, Ronak Khatri represented NSUI, the Congress student wing, and was elected president of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) in 2024.

From Delhi’s Narela, he is a law student at Campus Law Centre. His calls for infrastructure reforms, activism, and frequent run-ins with academics have been hallmarks of his presidency.

He spoke out against the subpar water facilities after being accepted to the university. Because he set up earthen pots (matka) on the college campus himself when his requests were not fulfilled, he became known as “Matka Man.”
