The AAP The decision to keep liquor stores open on Chhath and Martyrs’ Day was criticized by Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj, who said it disregarded the feelings of Purvanchali communities and Sanatan believers. He charged that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the BJP-led Delhi government had not met the benchmarks they had demanded during their time in opposition. When the BJP was in the opposition during the Arvind Kejriwal administration, Bhardwaj noted that the party often demanded that liquor stores be closed on significant religious holidays. He asked why booze stores continued to operate on auspicious days now that the BJP is in power.
