Delhi government under fire from AAP for double standards in pollution checks; govt vehicles allegedly exempt from PUC norms.
Delhi : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sharply criticized the Delhi government for its double standards in enforcing pollution control norms. According to AAP leaders, while citizens are strictly required to produce valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates to obtain fuel, government vehicles are allegedly being allowed to operate without checks, contributing disproportionately to Delhi’s worsening air quality.
An AAP spokesperson stated, “The government’s approach is unfair and undermines public trust. Ordinary citizens are penalized for minor lapses, while government vehicles escape accountability. This is not just double standards—it’s negligence affecting the health of every Delhi resident.”

The party demanded that strict pollution norms be applied uniformly, with government vehicles subjected to the same PUC checks as private vehicles. “Air pollution does not discriminate. Every vehicle on Delhi roads must comply with environmental standards,” the AAP representative added.

Environmental activists have also raised concerns that unchecked government vehicles could significantly worsen air quality, particularly in highly polluted areas of the capital. AAP has called for immediate corrective action and transparency in monitoring to ensure public health is not compromised.
