Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announces over 30 national & international events in 80 days, highlights Yamuna cleanup, and prepares city for a vibrant Diwali and Chhath.
CM Rekha Gupta said that Delhi is quickly becoming the Creative Capital of India. She also said that over the next 80 days, the national capital will host more than 30 national and international events with artists from all over the country and the world, famous people, and lakhs of spectators.
“Our government is turning Delhi into a capital where the culture, festivals, and traditions of every state are respected and given prominence,” the Chief Minister said during a press conference today.
“Delhi is full of the spirit of unity in diversity, and with all the national and international events planned for the next 80 days, it is ready to become the Creative Capital of India,” she said.

The Chief Minister stressed that the concert economy is an important area that all states should focus on. “We want to thank PM Modi, the central government, and Mansukh Mandaviya for helping us a lot with this and lowering rates at all the central government institutions,” she said.
She stated, “Through these events, we are fulfilling our goal of making Delhi an event-friendly city.” She then listed some of the things her government has done to make Delhi more welcoming to events. We have made the prices better at the National Stadium, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, IG Stadium, Thyagaraj Stadium, and Chhatrasal Stadium. The prices at all of these places will now be far cheaper than they were previously. “Our good governance depends on the single window system.”
Gupta claimed that the method has already been used by the Kanwar Yatra, Ramlila, Durga Puja, and Chhath committees to speed up the approval process.
“We used it for the Kanwar Yatra, the Ramlila Committee, the Durga Puja Committee, and now also for the Chhath Committee.” We are always working to make it easier to transact business through the single-window system… In the next 70 days, there will be 30 big events that millions of people will go to, and Delhi will be loved in every manner. She went on to say, “Our goal for tourism is that everyone who comes to India must come to Delhi.”
The Chief Minister talked about pollution and the Yamuna River and told people not to believe old pictures. “Be careful with those old videos of the River Yamuna that people post…” The Yamuna is more cleaner, clearer, and prettier than it used to be, and we haven’t seen any foam build up there. The government always does what it is supposed to do. This time, 25,000 to 35,000 metric tons of silt were taken out of Delhi’s drains during the desilting. This silt would have ended up in the Yamuna. She answered, “We drained it out.”
The Chief Minister remarked that the work to upgrade the antiquated Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) for every drain is now done.
“We started building STPs by tapping into every drain. The work to upgrade the old STPs for each drain is also done. The BOD level is better now than it was before, and the government is aiming to make it even better. “We have worked to get rid of thousands of tons of water hyacinth from the Yamuna,” she stated.

“The Yamuna, where even the smallest bacteria couldn’t live previously, is today full of oxygen. There is clean water there now, and fish and other aquatic life can survive there. There is more work to be done. We have tried to do more than the administration could have done in six months. “We’ve done it honestly,” she said.
Later, Chief Minister Gupta and Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra checked on the preparations for the Chhath event at Kalindi Kunj Chhath Ghat.
“This is the same site where we used to see hazardous foam floating on the Yamuna River, and Chhath devotees had to pray while standing here. We don’t see any harmful foam or water pouring here since the BJP government is getting everything ready. There are big plans in the works for the Chhath festival. People in Delhi won’t have to deal with poisonous foam. I came here to show you the truth… The Chief Minister declared following the inspection, “This time Diwali and Chhath will be big.”
