Delhi CM Rekha Gupta says the govt will appeal to the SC, assuring strict compliance with court orders and eco norms to balance pollution control and festive joy.

New Delhi:  CM Rekha Gupta announced that her government would petition the Supreme Court to permit the use of certified green firecrackers for Diwali. She stated that in order to obtain permission to use environmentally safe firecrackers that adhere to all official regulations and environmental standards, the government will present its position in writing to the court.

The idea, according to CM Gupta, seeks to balance environmental safety with people’s feelings to make festivities both responsible and happy. “India’s cultural and religious heritage’s most significant celebration is Diwali. In consideration of the feelings of the millions of Delhi residents, our government would petition the Supreme Court to allow the usage of green firecrackers throughout the holiday season,” she stated.

The government reiterates its dedication to pollution control.

Reiterating the Delhi government’s dedication to reducing pollution and safeguarding the environment, the Chief Minister promised the Supreme Court that the court will have full cooperation in carrying out any orders it issues. If the court permits their usage, she noted, only certified green firecrackers made by authorized institutions and recognized by the appropriate authorities will be allowed. The administration is committed to encouraging eco-friendly festivities while maintaining adherence to public safety regulations, she continued.

1,700 kg of firecrackers were found during several raids in Delhi.

In many operations throughout the nation’s capital ahead of Diwali this month, the Delhi Police confiscated more than 1,700 kg of prohibited firecrackers and detained seven persons, according to an official earlier on Sunday. The Delhi police’s crime section launched a crackdown in Dwarka, Rohini, Uttam Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Mukundpur, and Shahdara, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Kumar. The operations were conducted in accordance with recent Supreme Court orders to limit firecracker sales and storage in order to combat air pollution and protect public safety, he said.
