Delhi : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised concerns over the current BJP administration in Delhi, claiming that the process of obtaining a Women’s Pink Card has become unnecessarily complicated. According to a post shared by AAP Delhi’s official X page, women are now forced to stand in long lines at card centres to apply for the free bus travel cards, creating frustration and inconvenience.
During the tenure of Arvind Kejriwal’s government, women in Delhi could access free bus travel easily without any passes or stringent terms and conditions. The initiative was praised as a significant step toward women’s empowerment and easier urban commuting.

However, under the present administration, the card application process has reportedly been made complex. Many applicants, including elderly women, have had to wait for hours at card centres. AAP leaders pointed out that senior bureaucrat Rekha Gupta’s policies have made the process unnecessarily bureaucratic.

An AAP spokesperson said, “The BJP’s mantra seems to be making essential services so complicated that people avoid using them. The Women’s Pink Card in Delhi should be easily accessible, as it was during the Arvind Kejriwal government. Making women stand in long queues defeats the purpose of this empowerment initiative.”
Social media users have echoed AAP’s criticism, highlighting the stark contrast between the smooth and efficient process during the previous government and the current cumbersome procedures. Many women expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the long waiting hours at card centres are discouraging them from applying for the Women’s Pink Card in Delhi.
The Women’s Pink Card Delhi scheme is intended to provide free bus travel for all women in the city, a move aimed at promoting gender equality and easing mobility for women. AAP leaders argue that making the process difficult undermines the very purpose of the program and discourages women from availing themselves of this crucial benefit.
